Songs of Love under SG Sky

The National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition 2017 finals was held on August 12. Mr. Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport was the Guest of Honour. After the award ceremony, he joined Ms. Low Yen Ling, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Goh Sin Teck, Chief Editor of “ZAOBAO”, Mr. Roy Li , famous singer and all competitors, together sang on the stage the Xinyao  “Let the world dance.”

“Xinyao has become a cultural asset of Singaporeans,” said Mr. Ng Chee Meng, “and we hope that, whether it is composing or singing, or just enjoying, students will fall in love with Mandarin through that.”

The last year’s choral champion, Ms. She Huiling, switched to solo group and won the first prize this year after her previous partner had graduated. She Huiling (age 18) said in a media interview that she was now in her third year, and would be the last time for her to participate in the competition. That’s why she participated in both composition category and solo category. She said, “I have tried what I wanted , leaving with no regrets. I’m proud of myself for winning the championship again.”

The 30 competitors at the final of the 3rd “Under Singapore Sky” National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition came from different secondary schools, junior colleges and Polytechnics. The Grand Final was held at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre. After intensive competition, She Lihui, “coffee and tea” partners Liu Yifei & Cai Xinyi from River Valley High School, and Huang Weijie & Hu Genghui from Singapore Polytechnic won the championship of solo, chorus and song composition category respectively.

Sian Chay Medical Institution also supported the event. Sian Chay appreciates the courage and determination of never giving up by our young people. Therefore, with this competition which mainly attracts young people, Sian Chay hopes that they can get more understanding about Sian Chay. Sian Chay also hopes that this group of talented young people can visit Sian Chay to see another beautiful scenery outside the campus. Sian Chay also encourages young people to spread loving heart and do good deeds by participating in Sian Chay’s activities, and to serve the nation, help the poor, create harmonious and happy lives together.

Sian Chay is a charitable organization with its core value of “Forgiveness, Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessing.” Sian Chay supports the nation building and to promote a harmonious society; and to promote its belief that “Nation Progresses, Family Prospers; Family Harmony, Successful Endeavours. Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People.”

The Young generation is the future of the country.. The country will get better for those youth full of love.[:zh]

“新”空下 爱的心声

    812日,“新空下”全国学生新谣歌唱及创作比赛总决赛圆满落幕,教育部长(学校)兼交通部第二部长黄志明是受邀嘉宾。他在颁奖典礼后,连同教育部政务次长刘燕玲、《联合早报》总编辑吴新迪、歌手黎沸挥及所有参赛者,在台上演唱新谣歌曲《让全世界起舞》。

黄志明说:“现在新谣已经是我们新加坡人的一种文化资产,希望学生们不管是写新谣、唱新谣、或者是听新谣,都能因此爱上华文。”

据悉,去年合唱组冠军佘慧玲,今年因合唱搭档毕业了而转战独唱组,并再次夺冠。佘慧玲(18岁)在接受媒体访问时表示,她今年已是三年级了,是她最后一次能够参加这个比赛,所以就参加了创作组及独唱组。她说:“想尝试的都已经试过了,所以我已没有任何遗憾。能再次夺得冠军,我更为自己感到骄傲。”

据了解,在第三届“新空下”全国学生新谣歌唱及创作比赛,最终晋级决赛的30名来自不同中学、初级学院及理工学院的学生。大决赛在新加坡理工学院会议中心举行。在经过一番龙争虎斗,独唱、合唱以及歌曲创作组的冠军分别由佘慧玲、立化中学“咖啡与茶”的刘以非和蔡欣怡、以及新加坡理工学院的黄杰伟和胡赓辉夺得。
